The new V6 produces 231 hp and 620 Nm of torque. This is slightly less horsepower, but more torque than the Ford Ranger with a 3.0-liter V6 (250 hp and 600 Nm). It is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission developed by GWM. This combination allows for towing of up to 3,500 kg.
This variant was developed specifically for the Australian market, taking into account local conditions and driver preferences.
The first models with the new V6 are now available for pre-order in Australia. Sales begin in September 2026.
Fuel consumption is a pleasant surprise:
- Cannon Alpha – 7.3 l/100 km;
- Tank 500 – 7.1 l/100 km.
By comparison, a pickup truck with a 2.4-liter diesel engine consumes 8.9 liters—a difference of almost 1.6 liters in favor of the new V6.
The prospects for its introduction in Russia are, of course, questionable. For example, the diesel Haval H9 previously left our market due to low demand. Furthermore, the recycling fee for vehicles with this engine will be approximately 2.4 million rubles.
